Website Design - You can list your book on Amazon, but if you're going to have to tell people about it being there and send them to it directly, you might as well send them to your own website, where you make and keep all the money. Amazon requires a 55% wholesale discount, which means they make more money from your book than you do, and that just doesn't make sense to us. Let us design your pages, create buttons, set up the domain and hosting, and get the whole thing online for you! We use your name as the domain name, so it would be www.yourname.com. That way, you don't need a new website for each book -- you wrote them all, so they can all go on one website under your name. This provides brand-recognition, as well – every time you tell people about your website, you are mentioning your name and they will remember it! To add new items to your website, the charge is the same as the original site creation -- $65.00 an hour, prorated for the actual time used. For Kid’s Books – We offer a PowerPoint presentation for authors who read their books to children at libraries and in preschools and kindergarten classes -- anywhere they might have a projector for that kind of thing, if you don’t have a laptop and projector system of your own. We put the images into a PowerPoint, with the chapter titles or character names/identities overlaid in colorful text. One author is using these presentations to promote her books, as well. If you find you are doing a lot of children's story-time readings, and the kids at the back can't see the pictures, let us know if you would like a PowerPoint of your images, something you can click to when you see the picture in the book, so the whole room can follow along with the pictures. If you already intend to do story-time readings, even at book-signing events, we can discuss your plans and needs. Other Goodies - We also design business cards based on the nature of the books the author writes. For a children's book author, we do something with a kid-style textured background and a kid-style font for the main title on the card. For authors of books for grownups, we can use the background of your book cover in a design suited to whatever you wish to call yourself or your company. We also design posters, bookmarks and a press release about each book -- it's called a Press Kit. The poster can be any size you wish. We've done 11 x 17 and 17 x 22 and 18 x 24, all of which are good sizes for stores to put in their front windows to announce a book-signing event. They also sit well on an easel beside the table where you sign your books, if mounted to a poster-board or printed on heavy poster-board stock. The bookmarks are 2" x 8" or 2" x 7". We can format them at 5 to a sheet, so you can take them to someplace like Kinkos and print only what you need at one time. We can also do them with text on the back -- or not -- and refer you to a printer who specializes in such printed material at very reasonable rates! A press release includes a picture of your cover, a blurb about the story, the ISBN number, a paragraph about the author, and contact information for more details or ordering. Photo Retouching - We often get photos that are old or damaged. These can be repaired. Creases, splotches, stains, tears, and even fading from age and sunlight can be greatly reduced or even eliminated, depending on the amount and type of damage. Colors can be restored, too! Do you need to do a book with us for your photos to be fixed? NO! We can fix your photos even if you aren't having a book published. We will be happy to provide a sample of our work, using one of your photos. All photos are repaired digitally, and will be provided to you on a CD upon completion. The CD is included in the service fee. Prices for services - For business card, poster, press release, and bookmarks, each design is $50.00 (flat fee). If you order one of each, there is a 10% discount. For a PowerPoint presentation with your book’s pictures and chapter titles or text, the price is by the hour -- $65.00 an hour, for usually around two hours. Time depends on the number of images. For website design, hosting and domain setup, the price is $65.00 an hour, plus the cost to set up the hosting and domain name. Photo retouching is charged at $65.00 an hour, prorated to the actual time used. |
